Well this morning I find my car was spun into our yard after being hit by a drunk driver. He fled and stuff but we found him and got his sorry hiney towed. He also hit a neighbor's car and nearly smashed into her house. But anyways can someone give me an estimate on how much damage there is? The trunk got messed up a bit so I know it's going to be expensive for our insurace. We have full-coverage incase this guy doesn't have insurance. I'm hoping I can get it totaled since I've already taken $7,000 worth of damage to the front end.

ouch... sounds like you have some bad luck

I doubt they will total it on you, my estimate is about $3500 in damage. It will need a new rear bumper cover, and I guessing they will try and straighten out the 1/4 panel and the underlying structure. You could force the issue and get a new 1/4, but watch out for a shoddy repair.

I'm not an insurance adjuster so I would have no clue. You may want to mention the previous damage and see if you can push for a total loss.

I'm sorry to see that happened. That's ridiculous that someone is that ignorant to drive under that condition. I hope he gets the punishment he deserves. All in all I think we go too easy on drunk drivers.

Yeah, I wish they would total it b/c of previous damage, if the last wreck would have been 2 or 3 grand more then they might have so we'll see. I'd like to get me a new v6 with a manual tranny this time instead of automatic, but beggers can't be choosers I suppose.

Gary, sorry about your car. My car is in the body shop right now with similar damage. My car spun out on the highway and hit a concrete wall. It hit on the rear drivers corner of the car...most of the wheel took the impact. My quarter panel had more damage than yours and they are replacing it. Initially the insurance company wanted the body shop to fix it. My estimate was for $2700 (will be a bit more since the body shop called yesterday and said the axel is bent). My total included a new wheel and tire ($150 tire and $220 wheel) so I'd say you're looking at about $2300 or so. Sorry again about your luck but good thing nobody was hurt.

My mom got hit by a dump truck in her new Avalon not long ago and the damage looks almost exactly the same. that bill came up to $6000 I think.

Anything is possible but it doesn't look like it was hit hard enough. If anything would be damaged it would be suspension related. The body shop should be able to tell what is mechanically wrong with it. The trunk area doesn't have any vital components in it.

How did you do 7000 in damage to the front end?

Unfortunate and I'm sorry for you, but the insurance will not total it out. A guy turned left about ten feet in front of my brand new, then 3 month old, 2003 civic while I was doing the speed limmit 40mph. The car was really bad off, required $14,000+ in repairs. I only paid $16,800 for the car. They repaired it. I talked to one of the repair shop employee's the day after it happened and he told me they would surely total it out, but they didn't.

It isn't really fair, a repaired new car just isn't the same. Especially when the damage was not your own fault. Not to mention the repair shop turned out to be really horrible.

Good luck, I think it will be no less than $3k to fix and most probably will be more like $6k, which isn't considered a total loss, has to come to around 80% of the cars value I believe.

If you've already had the front end damage fixed, then I don't think you'll be able to use that in any way towards having it totalled. Good luck though......and my guestimate would be in the vicinity of $5,000 on your new damage

Over $7,000 in damages, took 41 days to fix

Needless to say the car has been through a lot and you all know why I want a new one. I'm not talking a 2006 GT or anything, just another 2005 or 2006 v6 with a manual tranny...but I guess it won't happen. Also, we found out the large guy in Austin Powers had no insurance coverage...great huh?

Your car would probably have to sustain over $20k in damages to total it out. Sorry, to hear about your car again. Thats a mess, but unfortunately, it is repairable.

$2,500-$4,000 depending on straighting costs and your areas charges.

Depending on the insurers guide lines, repair must be 60-70% of vehicles worth to total.

This claim has nothing to do with previous repaired damage costs.

My new 72 Grand Torino Sports drivers front was hit in driveway and one year later the drivers rear quarter was hit parked on commerical street. Hard enough to blow out rear tire. Sucks to have a new car thats been damaged a few times.

that damage to the rear fender may cost u...cuz it connects around the rear window and over the passenger window. they may have to bend and mold and puddy that. i honestly think it will cost about $3000....but the parts for this car r expensive

no, many cars with minimal damage are totalled out because they're unibody cars or they have frame rail damage.

this car i believe has about 3k in damage as others have said.
