Trouble code P-0401

My car has thrown this code. I know that it means "low exhaust gas recirculation flow", but have no idea what that is, or how to fix it! Any ideas?

right, I have deduced that I need a new DPFE sensor.....just got to figure out where to get one of them in the uk.......!!
