Hi there, I live across the pond and would like some advise if possible. I have recently bought an imported 95 GT Musatng. Having drove it a bit (before the price of fuel went up to £5.00 a gallonabout $8.60 andpanic buying before the fuel blockades) I felt there was excescive free play at the steering wheel when moving making slight course directions unnerving to say the least. Is this free play normal ? or does it point a worn steering coupling ? any advice appreciated

First off, welcome to the site Gary!

It sounds like it may be wore out tie rod ends (inner and outer maybe) which could defintely lead problems. I would get the front end inspected by someone with mustang experience if its available over there.

Welcome to the site!

Where do you live? If you are anywhere near Lakenheath, there a few shops knowledgable about american cars in the area. Also, I know they have an auto club made up of American vehicles there as well. I'm sure they would be glad to help you with your Mustang.

Thanks for the warm welcome !!
several people have now suggested the inner tie rods, I used to work as a parts supervisor at a Ford dealer, and the Fiesta used to suffer from the same problem.Ive just enlisted the help of a couple of technicians from there to give me a hand. Thanks again i dont think it will be long before i post again there's always something to do !!!!
