Symptoms of a bad O2 sensor? or...

Curious to see if anyone can help me. When accelerating, my car will pull hard until 3-3500 rpm, then it will start sputtering and coughing and won't rev up much more. It does this off and on. Some times it will pull hard the entire way, and others it just craps out. My guess is its either an air or a fuel problem, but I'm trying to pin point what specifically. If you can help me out that'd be great!

Is it throwing any codes? Do you have a tuner to pull codes? Sometimes, a code will throw and not illuminate the CEL\

Nothing on the dash, but the check engine light does come on every now and then. I'll hook the computer up and see

I was troubleshooting on the internet and it also sounds like it could be an issue with the smog and emission equipment. Since I have cat deletes, the emissions equipment could be working against me.

Coil packs. Might want to give them a look-see

If you have over 100,000 miles this will be clogged up "light off" converters. Mustang V6's are notorious for this. One way to test is to take the forward O2 sensors out and if it drives better you need new converters...or do like I did on my daughter in laws Mustang and "gut" them!

He said he has no cats

Check mass air flow sensor. We had a 95 v6 that would sometimes run ok and then it would just quit accelerating and it would leave me on the highway going 50 because it wouldn't do anything. It wouldn't accelerate from stops hardly when it was happening and it wouldn't go over like 3k-3500k rpms. Ended up being mass air flow sensor bad
