OK, I want to remove all the sound deadening material from the floor pan in the rear of my car....the interior is already all torn out, and SOME of that stuff came off relatively easy, just by pulling on it. The REST however, is on but GOOD.

Friend of mine telles me that WD40 does a good job of dissolving/softening it so it will come up. Any one ever mess with scraping this stuff out?

And I don't want to use anything too strong that will corrode the floor pan or leave a bad smell in the rest of the car.

Hmm.. i think a good scraper is basically what it is going to require. Just alot of elbow grease. Maybe use a plastic scraper to get it up, or maybe take a utility knife to cut it close to the floor pan and it might end up leaving a thin layer.

Ya, I figured that what it would come to, but I want to know if anyone knows for sure if there is anything that works well on softening that stuff up...

Don't know anything specifically helpful. Why not try WD-40 in a spot and give that a go?
