Some people...it sucks to have a car that looks/sounds fast, when it's really not.

It is also slow and doesn't handle like a rally car. I know this is a Mustang forum but I have to defend the Subaru WRX/STi these things are incredible. Though it is about the same price as a Mustang GT (well equipped) the STi can hang with it or outperform it in just about everything besides acceleration. I just wish Ford could give us a rally spec car like the European Focus. I hear we will be getting a global Focus next time around but I bet we get a watered down version for the U.S.

I had that happen to me a number of times with my 370Z. That car just looks like it's doing 15 over all the time.

What really gets me is I do 25 in the residential zones all the time and I always have soccer moms in their SUVs riding my tail wanting me to bump it up to 40 so they can get down the street quicker... sigh.

My dad always gets complaints from other parents at our track booster club meetings. "your son was flyin across the parking lot!" or "you really need to send your kid back to drivers ed, teach him how to drive." they see me going about 10 pulling into a parking spot in an empty parking lot (7am practice) and it really makes me angry. I get yelled at around my neighbourhood too cuz i go "blazin down the street"
Residential zones are 30 around here and the most i go is 20. But heres the catch, bone stock 02 GT so its not even loud! It is black tho if tht means anything....

This used to happen to me, I would be following my friend who was driving a honda civic.

He would be doing like 35 in a 25 right past a family outside and they would just watch and then I would go by in my old Mustang at 25 and they would yell to slow down. lol.

lol

Going the speed limit is "too slow" nowadays. Soccer moms in vans will tailgate my *** even if I'm already going 5 over with stop sign coming up 20 yards ahead

Ditto. I don't put anyone but myself at risk. I drive responsibly in traffic and floor it where I can safely. I pass on the highway when I know I can make it. Just because it scares other people doesn't mean it cant be done. I suggest to those who are whining to focus on the senior citizens that are doing 20 under and holding up traffic.

I can kind of understand someone getting kind of annoyed at me doing 45 in a 45 (who does that, anyways?) but it really irks me in a residential neighborhood. People live there for crying out loud... have some respect!

The funny thing is these people who would go 40 down a residential street posted at 25 mph would probably get really mad if someone was doing that in their neighborhood.

Well honestly the cars are built to sustain speeds substantially higher than posted limits however speeding tickets bring big bucks into the local governments coffers so I don't expect them to go up any time soon.

Funny that this thread got bumped. Everyone should check out my thread in Off Topic where I was ticketed for going 80 in a 65 a couple of weeks ago, when I was really going 70 when I saw the CHP enter the freeway and slowed to 67-68ish after I saw him...

And ticketed for tailgating (hardly, as there is construction on that stretch of road and everyone bunches up) and excessive exhaust noise - it's a bone stock V6 with a catback (with full mufflers). Yes, excessive exhaust for SURE.

I'm still trying to find a better/new job, and with this happening now, I feel like I'm NEVER going to be able to get my own V8 Stang. Especially with gas going over $4.30 and expected to never drop below $4/gallon again...ugh.
