SN95 Trunk Spare Tire (Donut) & Jack
This is probably a really stupid question but everyone has been especially helpful today.
I recently had to remove my stock donut & jack from the trunk of my 2001 sixer when I lent it to a colleague at work. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to put everything back in there. I've done extensive online searching and I feel like a total dummy.
but futhermore, I don't really even want it in there- I have no use for it. The donut is considerably smaller than my upgraded wheels, the jack is a total PITA to use and most importantly, I have AAA. The newer 'stangs and other cars don't even come with a spare anymore. And for what it's worth, weight reduction! But my second stupid question is: if people take their donut/jack out, how do you compensate for this big hole? The carpet will obviously cave in if you put any weight on top of it.

I'm assuming it's the same as my 96 and I put that in spare face down, adjust the jack to fit inside the rim and bolt down. Pretty easy and you don't put weight on the fiberboard if you don't have a spare in the well. I guess you could get a thicker piece of wood to cover the well.

Thought I read that the newer cats and mustangs didn't have one but one of those air inflator things instead. I'm definitely not concerned about the extra weight, just found that on other forums. I'll keep trying I suppose. Would be nice to have the well to have keep as a special storage stash

there's a piece of bent metal rod that hooks into a slot on the floor, place the jack (half way extended) on top of that by threading the rod through the hole on the jack's handle, then place the tire over top of that, and secure the whole thing by tightening down the big wing nut (if the plastic hasn't gotten brittle and broken)

Within a couple months of getting my 05 I used the spare 3 times & my cover was sagging either way. My dad & I used the carpet to somewhat outline a piece of wood that I put under the carpet to keep from sagging I don't suspect it would be to hard for your car either. Since the. I've just put a full sized spare back there
