might be that the fuel injectors need a cleaning if you havent done that before they have all sorts of gunk on them or it could be a spark plug. Hope that helps

Have you ever replaced the fuel filter? It's simple and cheap. I'd try that.

Is it throwing any codes at all? I know that's going to be OBD1 but still should get some idea if it is.

What about the catalytic coverter?

If you can get the injectors out and cleaned it might help. Might want to check the EGR too.

I would replace the fuel filter ( it should be done once a year) at the same time I would put in a bottle of Chevron Techron in an empty tank then fill it up. After you have run the car with a bottle of Techron in the tank you might have to repeat the procedure depending on how much crap is in your system, two bottles should work though. The key though is to put the Techron in an empty tank then fill with gas so that the Techron product will evenly dispurse. Also the CAI filter might have to be oiled or replaced. A tune up (new plugs) and a check of the EGR value might be benefical also.

Had sort of the same problem. Mine was caused by stuff in my tank. I ended up replacing the fuel pump and filter. Also cleaned the injectors but do that as part of regular maintenance. I was throwing codes though.

I have a reader if your check engine light has been on. It would probably be cheaper than purchase. Let me know if you wanna borrow it.

i've put octane booster, fuel treatment, and a bottle of lucas injector cleaner in it. it's not getting any worse so i'm thinking that it's either the injectors or the spark plugs. i've already changed the fuel filter and it didn't make a difference. there are no check anything lights comming on. oh, and it doesn't have any cats on it. i'm going to wait it out with the injector cleaner and see if that helps. i'll probably put another bottle in it after this tank of gas is used up just to make sure. thanks to everyone for your help. i'm still pretty new at this.
