Optima Red Top
I'm looking at getting a new Optima Red Top battery. Anyone know the necessary amps need for a Mustang battery.
I see both 800 and 720 offered, also......seeing as how the Mustang is my first car with a battery gauge....how well does it indicate a dying battery. Meaning will the gauge slowly drift toward low-voltage. Or should I expect to one day turn the key and DEAD.
That's the only reason I'm looking at batteries as I still have the stock battery and my car is now close to 6 yrs old closing in on 85K, and I can't expect it to live forever.
I think I might buy the Optima and store it in my trunk until the stock one dies, just for prevention.

I should be needing a change as well... im closing in on 30k on my 00 ( very low mileage I know ) and it's kill every now and again from a cold start. It's either the battery or the starter... 2 things that can be easily changed...

the red top has well more cold cranking amps than required... I only have a 550 CCA battery in my mustang and it starts fine every morning. You can't go wrong with the red top.

However I guess 12V is 12V despite the CCA.

Yea.....I just didn't want to "over do it" by getting a high number and possibly harming the engine.

Thats correct, the higher amount of CCA isn't going to harm the engine, its still 12 volts.

Funny you would ask most people look right over that. This car has been on the cover of a couple of mags and to SEMA as a feature car twice and no one ever notice the bucking horse in the grill. Not even the guys in the ford booth took a notice at SEMA in 95 when it sat in their booth. I owned that car for ten yeas and that was the first mod I made to the car the day after I purchased it back in 95. The Bronco is from you guessed it a BRONCO from the early 80’s. You might have to ask Kevin at Cleavpatrs for a part number I cant remember what it was but I know it was from the early 80’s Bronco on the fender. Thanks for noticing..

2 bills for a Red Top!????
Come on for a summer driver all you need is an Interstate!
Yes I know the thread is 6 years old... I'm getting my feet wet! Besides I haven't had any issues with my '06 Vert GT for 6 years! 34,000 and original battery I think its time to replace it but not for 2 bills!!!!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that the guy that started this has probably made a decision on what to do about a battery by now.
