Thinking of lowering my 2000 convertible...what is a good drop as for as inches??...is there a different spring being that it's a convertible??...and what's a good way to get a good ride out of it???

Hey,

I'm happy to hear you want to improve the stance on your Mustang, and you certainly have some good questions.

For the most part any Mustang spring has a similar design, the difference is the amount of weight the spring can hold. The convertibles tend to weigh more and require a spring that can hold that additional weight.

I personally like about a 1.5" drop on those year Mustangs. I personally think that it gives the car just enough wheel gap to look right, and allows for greatly improved handling while maintaining a decent ride quality. You can also keep some ride quality with upgrade shocks, and running the factory tire size on the car.

For what you are looking for, I would personally recommend the Ford Racing G springs. They have a 1.2" drop to give your car a better stance and improved cornering, and a relatively low spring rate that will keep your factory ride quality.

Also, if you do go with a set of springs, keep in mind we offer our forum members a 6% discount off their entire order. I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions feel free to reach out to myself, or contact our customer service team listed below my signature. Good luck!

Don't forget to get camber plates as well. I learned that the hard way
