My 03 GT has the dreaded coolant leak from the p.o.s plastic crossover. I'm looking at a couple different new intakes. I have seen them from 169.99 for the ford racing performance one from American Muscle ( http://www.americanmuscle.com/intake...FQ8r7AodECRhWg )
The question I have is, the 500-600 dollar pro series from American muscle , is it worth that much more to get a all alum one vs a composite plastic one? Are there any hp gains that would be worth spending that much more, and or any performance gain what so ever? I'm not looking for any gains , but if it helps the motor breathe better or perform any smoother I would take it into consideration. But an extra 400 bucks is a lot for justba intake manifold right?
If any one has installed one on their stang, is it something I could accomplish in my garage myself instead of having someone do it for me?
I'm not a ford mechanic but I do know my way around a MY car.
Thanks for any help you can give guys :-)
EDIT: oh and it says it for the 4.6 with pi heads, anyone know what year they started using these in the gt's ?

Pi heads are just power improvement heads hence the hp gain from the 98 to 99-04 mustang gt. They upgrade the intake manifold the heads and cams giving it 40 more hp and that's why they call it a power improvement intake mani.- just upgrade parts from the 98 gt

I guess since I have the 03 gt I have the pi heads already right? I'm only looking at spending the 169 for the intake manifold. I already have someone to put it on for me for free if I can't handle the job itself. I just didnt know if it was worth getting then pro series intake mani vs the composite plastic one. If I already have the pi heads I'm not going to see much if any gain if I was to by the over priced all alum one then right?
I would try the stop leak, but it looks like the shady *** person I bought the car from already tried to use silly puddy, or bond or some kind of adhesive like caulk. It's starting to dry up and crack away from the plastic crossover, it smells really strong of coolant if I get into the higher rpm range. So I'm guessing when I get in it it's spewing out from the crossover causing me to spend 1,000,000,000 rubles a week on coolants ;-)

Yes, the 2003 already has the PI heads/intake. The only way you would see gains to justify the price is if you also get Cams, Headers, or Supercharger. If you don't plan on getting any of that then get the composite one, it will hold less heat than the metal one.

I can hear it releasing pressure from the crossover once it's warmed up and I cut the car off, and its using about a gal of coolant every week and a half or so. If it doesn't maintain a certain pressure in the cooling system will this have any effect on other mechanical issues down the road?

stop leak fixes it from the inside out, you put it in your radiator, and it runs through. how it works, I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure it's magic.
