Idle Problem

When stopped, and sitting at idle, I sometimes get a slight fluctuate in the rpms. It does this until one of two things happen. The RPMs go to about 1300, which I have to slam on the breaks to keep from hitting anything, or the car kills. Most of the time, the car kills. This mabye happens once or twice a week, since I don't idle much. Most of when I drive is to work, which is a total of 1.75miles from my house. (Long commute huh?)

What could be the problem? I'm thinking it's either some sensor, or I need a new fuel filter.

maybe clean out the PCV valve. i think its the PCV...the little thing mounted on the upper intake.. i heard if those get dirty inside it'll cause idle problems.

It could be the IAC. Try cleaning it and see if it helps.

Or do what I did and order one of these:http://www.vmptuning.com/store/index...d=21&parent=26

Mine is scheduled for delivery on 09/01 (day before my birthday, bought a little present for myself!) and I was going to try to do an installation write up on it, with pictures, of course.

You just have to remember to keep the factory PCV set up, so your car will pass inspection.

This sounds like the throttle body air bypass valve. I've had this happen before on a couple cars and if the valve is either bad or carboned up, it will cause problems with idle, especially when coming down from normal operation to an idle.

Is there a PCV delete kit for the GT? or is it a v6 only type thing?

If it's a carbon build up, will taking it apart and cleaning it out do the trick?

And, what's an IAC?

Apparently there was an issue with the PCV valves on the 3.8 V6 in 99-00, but I don't know if it is an issue with the GT...There isn't a delete kit for the GT, so I would guess this wasn't an issue....
