How do you install a new rear end in a 96 v6 mustang?

I'm sure there's more to your question, but as asked...

Well... there's always googling for "ford 7.5 rear end swap 96 mustang v6":
https://www.google.com/#sclient=psy-...+94+mustang+v6

But a lot of those are for v6 to v8 swaps. Still, the information is valid, and basically boils down to:

Step 1: Remove old axle. Make notes on *everything* you remove.
Step 2: Install new axle. Using notes from above, it should bolt right up and work.

Provided, of course, you have the same body style mounting axle.. nominally a '94-04 V6 Mustang axle, but variances do happen.

And that also assumes you're putting in another of the same axle. The swap to a v8 one is therefore covered with the googling.

Good luck!

So it's a basic bolt in? How long should it take?

Takes me about an hr to swap rears. I've done it a couple times but its pretty basic.

Drop the driveshaft
Unbolt shocks
Unbolt upper and lower control arms
Remove springs
Reverse for install of new rear.

Fully bolt on and very easy
I can remember the driveshaft bolt sizes, but for everything else its a 15mm or 18mm I do believe.

Id say it count on 2 to 3 hrs max...

What type of socket do you need for the drive shaft bolts?

I wanna say its a 13mm, and make sure its a 12pt socket, the 6 will slip.
