Cleaning my IAC
Ok......the Haynes manual....is worthless here. I wanna check my IAC, but they show where it is on a 5.0 and 3.8.
Below I have a picture.....I understand what the IAC itself looks like and how to clean it....however when it's attached I cannot locate its position. Is it where the blue arrow is or the yellow arrow...or am I way off today?
I figured....by the yellow because the manual said I'll be removing 2 bolts. However....after giving it a second look the blue looks possible also.
If it's the yellow anyone know the size of bolts off the top of their head....because none of my wrenches are that small.

It is the one with the yellow arrow pointing to it in your picture, the one with the blue arrow is your Throttle Position Sensor. Dont mess the with the blue one or you could have issues.
Disconnect the hose and sensor plug with the yellow arrows pointing towards them. Then remove the two bolts holding it on, where the blue arrows are pointing. You should then be able to pull it off of the upper intake plenum.
As far as the bolt size, maybe a 6 or 7 mm?

When removing any kind of eclectrical connection it is never a bad idea to disconect the battery. Just remove the negative battery cable, then get in the car, turn the switch over and press the brake pedal. This will ensure that all power remaining in the system is drained out. Now, just to disconnect the sensor, I probably wouldnt bother disconnecting the battery, but it should not hurt anything by doing so if you want to.
I have a strong feeling those bolts are 10mm, 6 or 7 seems way too small but I may be wrong. If you're going to clean your IAC you might as well take your air intake tube off and clean the throttle body and butterfly in there. I prefer GumCutter 2+2 brand carb cleaner, for whatever thats worth...
