Well guys....I'm been reading these forums for over a year....I grew up around classic Mustangs because of my Dad. Over the years I've dreamed of having one, but have never owned one. Until today my car was a 1996 Nissan Altima with 165k on it. Well...South Florida got hit by some crazy rain yesterday and on the way home I was in about 1ft of water...after I got out of it my transmission took a crap. The car still starts, but doesn't want to shift (auto) into 2nd gear until way too late and then when it does shift it jerks the car hard. I think the tranny is shot...I've had this car for 6.5 years and it's been paid off for a while now. Because I'm starting a new career (left the IT field and I'm starting school on Monday to be a Firefighter/Paramedic) I deceided to drive it until it died. Well....R.I.P!!

I was hoping the car would last me until I got placed as a Firefighter then I was going to buy a used 05 GT, but I need a car now. So that leads me to this forum. I want to get a 99-02 GT 5SPD. I would like a convertible, but I'll get a coupe if I find a great deal. I don't want to spend more than $13k...I'm here for your experience/expertise and any advice.

there are that many SN95's on ebay, you are bound to find one in your area. I am really glad that you are coming into the mustang fold!

You should be able to find a Stang within that price range.

I recently purchased my 99 with 44k for $10,000
If you keep your eye out you should find what you're looking for, and like James said there are always some on Ebay

Well welcome!!!!

You should have no problem finding one you like. But...be forwarned. Some people (no one who ever posts on these here forums of course) flog their ponies (esp. the V-8's) so look around and make sure you get a good one.

Congrats on coming to the party and reminding whoever sells to you why its a bad investment to by new Mustangs without the intent to own them forever.
