Hey Guys,

I've been searching the classifieds since Feb. looking for a Stang, I finally think I found one. It's a 2000 GT, since I'm still a car novice I'm taking a friend of mine who was a car dealer(and in the car business in general) for 20+yrs.

Are there any specific questions that I should ask before buying, or any problem areas for you SN95 owners.

I'm gonna go look at it tomorrow, wish me luck!

well i just got mine a little over a month ago...

definitely one thing to check on used stangs is the idle air controller...see if its been replaced. its VERY common for stangs to have trouble with those...mine started having trouble a couple weeks after i got it. fortunately everyone here gave good advice diagnosing the problem and its not expensive to fix...its only a $90 part from ford or like $40 from advance auto parts. so i would just ask the owner if theres a new one in there. if so good...if not no big deal, just plan on having to spend a hundred for a new one.

other than that just look for obvious signs that its been abused or taken care of. the guy who sold mine to me had an expensive custom car cover (threw it in for free) and was really emotional before he gave me the keys...he really loved the car and took care of it. id say see how the owner acts...that will give you an idea of how the car was treated (assuming its a private seller).

i also looked behind the rear tires for any black sticky stuff on the wells...that would be tires from a lot of burnouts. saw that on one stang i looked at...not mine though.

cant really think of anything else....i absolutely love mine despite the minor problem i already had. theres NOTHING like driving a stang. good luck and let us know how it goes

Good Call!

The right headlight had some tree sap on it, apparently he spent all Saturday trying to get it off.....for good presentation.

He had it washed, waxed, detailed, tires cleaned, and gave it new car scent. My friend told me that the guy's wife started tearing up while we were test driving. After the sale was completed she started getting emotional again. I couldn't look at her, because I didn't wanna feel like the bad guy.

Drove it home and loved it, I'm gonna do a thread in the V8 forum giving details.

I took it!

Haven't had a full driving day with her, but she's keeping me busy.

Best advice ever. Listen to the radio presets. They tell ALOT bout the previous owners.
