94 Pace car new acquisition

My latest addition to the collection.... a 78K mile Pace car that has been neglected for a decade.

Oh man!! You have to give some details. You don't have to share the price (although curious) but how is it? Is the top still decent or need to be replaced. I beg for details!!

It started last fall at Foxtoberfest...had dinner with a friend and we were talking about the usual...cars and I mentioned I had a 1988 Georgia state patrol project I was going to sell and he mentioned he had this car he bought from a friend who was moving but he had no interest in it and was going to sell it....then he said "you wanna trade?" so that's how I ended up with it. The previous owner started taking things apart more than 10 years ago....no idea why but it came with new upholstery and an NOS stripe kit. It did run but since it had been sitting the fuel tank was solid rust...everything was garbage and the injectors were stuck. So I removed and cleaned the injectors(luckily that's a service I offer at my shop and have the flow bench and cleaner) and I bought a new tank, sending unit, fuel pump and filler neck....once all that was replaced It fired right up and runs perfectly. It's completely stock except for the addition of flowmaster mufflers. It does need a top and it needs paint. ....and a tree limb fell on the windshield while under cover at my friends house so now it needs a windshield as well.

It's #326 of 1000 made. A fun fact I never new until I got my SVT certificate from Ford along with data on the car....the ONLY 94 Cobra convertibles ever made were the 1000 pace car editions...that's it. Otherwise you couldn't get a cobra convertible in '94...I never knew that.

Well my intention is to restore it and put it on display at the Mustang Museum of America...but everything has a price...LOL. It's a cool car and I intend to keep it stock which is not the norm for my cars.

Thank you so much for the info. Knowing how to do things yourself is just HUGE! That will be a real gem for the museum.

The downside is doing this for a living often leaves me little time to do my own projects....I get so burnt out on working on cars all day that I don't feel like staying late to work on my own. That's the negative of turning a hobby into a business.
