XM Mounting Locations?

I am having an XM Roady XT hard wired into my 2005 Mustang, Shaker 500. I have done searches and mostly see Sirius installations.

My installer is getting the FRD-04 PIE adapter so I can avoid having to use the FM modulator.

Two questions:
There has been some confusion about whether the adapters work with the 6 CD changer. Has anyone had experience with this? This adapter has the 16 pin connector on one end. Do all our Shaker 500's have this to mate with?

What is the best mounting place for the antenna and satelite (Roady XT) unit?
Thanks

Well, I don't know if it's the best, but it works for me....Mine is running through an FM modulator, however. I am getting ready to remove mine. Just ordered an Alpine Head Unit with the XM receiver built in. (no additional box) That, plus a pair of Infinity Kappa's for the rear deck. I will probably leave the antenna in the currentl location, as it works just fine....

XM Radio Mounting Locations

Thanks. I am hoping to mount it where I can see the display (although the center console spot is creative) and be able to use my cup holders.

Anyone else have some possible "on dash" installations?

If that is the one for RDS radios, I don't think that unit changes stations through the factory radio. It uses a remote control. I think it just displays the information through the RDS system.

This spot works good. You can just run all the wires under the molding.

Do you have a part number or can you put a link up for this item. I would like to see this as well.

Has anyone hardwired their Roady or other portable devices into the car? I see that they have adapters to hardwire these in, just haven't heard of anyone doing it. Thought?

I looked today to and did not see anything. I don't know how the auxilary jack would control the remote device and change the stations? That don't seem possible to me.

I hard wired my aduiovox XM unit in last year. i have it mounted in the glove box and tilted towards me this way i can see it and change stations with the remote that came with it. i wired it into the switched power that also powers the radio so when the radio is on my xm is on radio off xm off... i think i have a write up on how i did it if i can find it i'll post it...

i also just wired in the pie adapter and have no problems with the cd player... only problem is some high frequency interference coming through my stereo but i think thats my xm unit

found the write up
