If you are just planning to use the headphone output of the iPod to connect to your aux-in jack, all you need is a cable with 1/8" stereo plugs on each end. Radio Shack carries them, and any store like Walmart should have them in the iPod/MP3 accessories section. There are many places to buy them online too, but often shippping would be as much as the cable itself.

I have tried to use that jack with my ipod. It only plays music out of the driverside speakers. Anybody else have this problem?

Have you tried a different patch cable? Sounds like your cable or one of the plugs may have a short somewhere, not uncommon for the little 1/8" patch cables. It is possible it is a problem with the aux jack in the car itself, but I'd try another cable or two first. I'm assuming you can hear both channels just fine with headphones out of the iPod?

Cobrakev: Bought mine at Radio Shack, but you have to be sure it is a stereo cable, and not just a mono cable, or else only one side plays.

The easy way to tell if the cable is stereo and not mono is the stereo plug has the metal part of the plug into three sections, the mono plug is divided into two sections.

For better sound, pick up one with a dock connector on one end and 1/8" (3.5mm) on the other end. You can get it from Amazon for about $10. You can't charge at the same time, but it sounds a lot better.

what you want is one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/BELKIN-Auto-Car-...QQcmdZViewItem

plus one of these:
http://cgi.ebay.com/3-5MM-6FT-MALE-H...QQcmdZViewItem

Spend less than $20, you'll get superior sound out of the dock connector versus the top connection, and you'll charge the ipod. I usually avoid buying anything cable related at best buy or those kinds of places, they make a killing on overcharging you for that stuff.

Only downside is that if you put your ipod in the center console, difficult to change/view songs. So if you feel like doing a little bit of work, pick up one of these for $20

Installed mine myself in an hour and it works great. I put the controller by the shifter, screen in between the vents, and I can operate the ipod safely while still keeping my eyes on the road.

I thought you could use the radio's button to control the IPOD? How does the belkin plug work? Where would you stick the stereo cable to? Inside the stereo socket on the belkin adapter?

you can't use the radio buttons to control the ipod unless you get something like "triptunes", at least $100+.
With the belkin adapter you would connect the 3.5mm cable from the port on the charger part to the audio in, which is easy since there's a cigarette lighter right next to the audio plug in the center console.

With the belkin adapter you'll need to still use the ipod controls. I put the ipod in the center console and bought a cheap remote for the ipod, to control volume and skip songs and velcroed it next to the shifter.

Eventually I got rid of all that and now use the Harman Kardon Drive + Play.

That would be annoy to have to change songs using the Ipod and not the radio controls. Is it hard to install trip tunes?
