I will be ordering my GT in February. I had ALMOST decided to purchase the S1000 (S500 comes with the Premium) upgrade, but now I am not so sure... I need more information!

First, what is the enclosure volumes on the 8" sub door enclosures? How much room do you have to expand them for larger 8" subs? What would be a GREAT 8" sub to replace the factory one?

Second, what is the enclosure volume on the 10" rear sum for the S1000? Does anyone know what the actual power rating is (not the peak crap) on the amp? Suggestions on 10" replacement drivers IF I decided to go with the S1000?

From looking at the S1000, it almost looks like I could build a better box that fits the same space. They build the S1000 box too low, so it has lots of wasted space above it that would be great for more volume (say for 12" sub(s)) but is almost useless as it is because you couldn't store anything there.

Right now, I am thinking about staying with the S500 and then adding a very nice sub package / amp to the rear and then upgrade all the factory speakers as time and money allow. Then, pick a VERY nice head unit to replace the factory one. Because I have already decided I don't care about long term collectibility, I don't think I am going to have any issues cutting sheet metal to mount the speakers I want in that car. I looks like the tray the 6x9s are mount on are already designed to be cut out to allow better speakers to be installed with no problems.
