Has anybody heard anything about the TripTunes device that can be found in the 2006 Mustang Accessories catalog on the 2006 Mustang Page? I have a PIE adapter that isn't installed yet (BECUASE MY 'STANG WON'T GET HERE) :bang: and was wondering if this TripTunes might be a better choice.

Id think that definitely this would be a better choice. Assuming it is not just an FM transmitter. You know it will work, and you can have the dealer take apart the dash for you if you want.

Id contact 05stangkc and see what the price on it is

From what I gather, this is similar to the system BMW used. There is a cable to plug into your MP3 Player, and it runs to an auxilary port in the radio. This item sounds great, especially if you can fish the wire to go into the center console. Hope Kevin has some info for us soon.

I will have to be convinced that this system is much better since I already have the PIE adapter (which currently has some issues that can be read about on this board) and probably won't be able to return it to get the TripTunes. I do agree that it would be nice to let the dealer take the dash apart as opposed to letting someone at at audio shop do it that may or may not have taken a new mustang apart before. Any info Kevin?

I was emailing Kevin about ordering something else, and asked him about this adaptor. He says that it isn't yet available. I expect that he will let us know when he knows more, because he can't have missed just how interested everyone has been in the PIE adaptor.

The word I got on this is that its a 06 part that will only work with 06 radios. As such it won't help us 05 owners. I sounds like they changed the wiring harnesses for the 06 model year...

Can you point us to where you got this information? I'm sure all of us would be interested in knowing what changed. Also, would this mean that the PIE adaptor won't work for the 2006 Mustang? Certainly a big question.

That is WAY uncool of them to do that. So this is a stupid question, but how come you can go buy a new head unit from... say Pioneer... and put it in your car, but that thread reads like you can't swap a 2006 radio for a 2005. I guess this shows my ignorance of what goes on with a head unit replacement. I haven't done my Shaker TSB yet, because I've been lazy about getting to a dealership. I was thinking maybe I could get them to put in the '06, but then in reading that thread over again, it looks like that's not an option. Can anyone who understands the stuff better than me explain this? If the wiring changed... uhm... then how can aftermarket headunits deal with changed wiring?

Give it time dude... though I totally trust Wade I don't necessarily have the same opinion of his sources. I'm still reeling from the "number" Motorsports did on me and Wade over a FRPP CAI I wanted. Till I see more information on this I'm taking a wait and see attitude.

Consider this however... we all know that the 05 Shaker radios had some serious issues. Maybe this is an indication that Ford/Delphi re-engineered the radios for the 06 model year.

That's true... if they fixed the radio, I'd be quite glad. Of course, then I'd want one even more

So....has anyone heard anything new on this subject? I'm just wondering. This is really the only "mod" I'm planning to make when I get my 'Stang.
