[attachmentid=29234]I've got an '06 on order. I am fooling around with a photo editor. I've been looking at the timeline and lettering. Given the retro look of the new mustang, I figured I would add some little touches to the interior to mix up retro and new design. It includes a 67/68 dash emblem between the center air vents, and the 68 lettering on dash (could be moved to the right or put lower). Thoughts? (Note: sizing may not be all that accurate, I went by eye).

I believe the logo on the passenger side is on the airbag door, which means on deployment of the airbag it could end up embedded in someone's forehead. :nono:

Since you're looking for opinions, I'll toss mine in.
I'm a big fan of the stock look on this car. I've seen lots of folks add little touches to the interior. One of the most comon ones is that lettering on the air bag door. Myself... I'm not a huge fan. I think if you were going to add a cool little touch to dress up the dash (if you just HAD to add something), I would add a little running horse to the far right side like on the 65/66 cars.

I'm not a fan of that emblem between the center vents. Of course, I'm not big on putting anything there really. Bear with me as I elaborate. I've been debating Sat Radio in my car, and I've been thinking of where to put the tuner (the XM Commander). The only 2 solutions I can find that actually work are these:

Driver's side Mount

Between the Vents

Now I'm more of a fan of the Driver's side mount as opposed to the one between the vents (don't be offended if you see this Carol). I think it does look nice and is easilly accessible. I just want to see as much of my pretty IUP as possible.

My Wife (not Carol ) wants to be able to mess with the Sat radio. I'd rather keep the clean look of the dash myself, and I dont' really see anywhere other than these 2 spots to mount the unit (at least where it is within MY reach).

So for me... I'm still debating what to do with the sat radio, but I'd like to keep it off of the center dash.

I wish I could find the steering wheel emblem that's in that pic. I'd have one of those faster than you could sneeze. The black one that's stock doesn't quite look as nice. Guess that's one of those little touches that never made it from concept to production.

I would say all and all, once you get your car, you'll fall in love with the clean lines in the interior. There isn't much room to put anything for the most part, and so I think you'll probably (except for perhaps something on the airbag doors) want to leave it clean. I know that's what I want to do, but then again... I'm all about the clean lines the car has and don't want to change anything at the moment. B)

Thanks for the feedback. Without the car in my hands yet, its difficult to see the real effect of dressing it up is, so I'm fiddling around with the photo editor (no damage here). I may order the lettering and emblems anyways and temporarily place them once I get the car. You're right, the cleanliness is a factor to look into and probably something I can only fully appreciate when I'm in the car.

I saw the 65/66 emblem to the right on the glove box... that looks cool too.

On another posted topic, I noted some folks added the running pony on the door like an early 70's model.

That's kinda cool! Thanks Kenny! I see it's not in production yet. If they rig up one of these for the commander models... I might have to look into it. It kinda breaks up the dash some, but it looks like a great way to mount the controller in a place where everyone can get to it.

I was also thinking about mounting it on the plastic dash below the glove box door right on the seam (the one in the picture you uploaded).

You'd need the remote to change the station - as the driver. Of course, my wife is with me most of the time I am driving the car (95% - we carpool), so I could have her change it most times. That might interrupt the clean look though... Dunno.

Sorry for the threadjack spirit.

For your topic... I would say wait and see what you like. The feeling of the car when you're in it is really something. If you are going the distance and getting IUP, you're going to feel hard pressed to put anything on those beautiful metal plates. It's just too beautiful!

That's okay for the threadjack. It just opens up for new ideas and new products to look for. That mount is pretty nifty. How does it install, do you just insert into a gap?

It's available now from cellularmount.com... Your satellite radio will mount to a cell phone mount perfectly... Here's the instructions on how to install...

No need for the extra pony badge, the steering wheel one is black. Plus that is too much in one area. The script on air bag is not bad. Can't say I would do it myself, but looks very nice. I would try to check with a engineer, to be sure that the very small amount of added weight does not effect deployment. As far mentioned above, the script its self is not going to fly off.
