+1

My Shaker 1000 also has a phone button. It would be killer if the Sync unit used it. That ugly stick on module is a deal breaker for me.

My 2008 GT500 with Shaker 500 has that big non-functional button with the phone icon on it too. Two different Ford dealer service managers and numerous other technicians and sales guys could not supply me with an answer for why I have this big non-functional button on my brand new radio.

It does not MUTE the radio; it just says no phone on the radio display. My 2005 F-450 shaker 500 has a mute button in that spot that actually mutes the radio.

I think it is simply a transitional part, not unlike them stuffing some inoperable intercooler lines on every Mustang built for the last six months of production, because next year they are going to supercharge every Mustang.

It pisses me off that I have this big ugly non-functional button with the phone icon on it on my car stereo.

It is very possible that button may interface with the Sync accessory unit.

I hope so! I have a Zune and I subscribe for unlimited music for it. Be nice to use it on the road without the FM modulator. Plenty of ipod adapters out there but nothing for the Zune.

I’m positive it does NOTHING on mine! Three different Ford guys, two sales guys and a service manager, on three different occasions swore it muted the stereo right up until they sat in the car and tried it and saw that it does not.

My 08 V6 mutes as well, I also have the plug ins in the console for the mp3 and laptop. Im wondering if I can plug my phone into them and get it to work. Would be a smart option to install, after all ya need your hands free while your shifting and drinking a coffee.

Except that in additon to bluetooth phone, it will have all the entertainment benefits of sync.
I already have mobile ease (came with the car AND I cannot use it with my iPhone ).
They are the same product? Right? i.e. I shouldn't need to purchase something twice?

Sync is a different unit alltogether than mobile-ease. Sync will also work with your iphone.

So although the unit (little black box) looks the same, it's different? I understand the whole system is different altogether, but the box itself is also different? Sorry if I'm repeating myself. If I can use sync with my iPhone I would love to get it because that little black box (mobile ease) is taking up space on my dash.

I just wish they had a nicer looking interface. I hate the way this mobilease thing looks on my dash. Plus they put it closer towards the glovebox
. at least here on console is easier to access but tougher to keep area clean. I hate exposed wires!!!!

Exposed wires Well after hearing that the iPhone will work with sync... I'm going to be purchasing it in the near future. More to spend
