lol, with the red and orange they kinda look like hotplates. Nice over-all design though.

The Shaker500 doesn't have any subs?
Jams for Every Budget

Three audio systems are available. The base one includes a single in-dash CD player with 80 watts and four speakers. Premium models come standard with the Shaker 500 audio system, which has two door mounted subwoofers with unique enclosed chambers and additional tweeter speakers. The aptly named Shaker 500 has 500 watts of peak power available.

For the customer who just can't get enough sound, Ford offers the Shaker 1000. The Shaker 1000 adds two trunk mounted subwoofers and an additional 500 watts of amplifier to exclimate the thump of the door mounted subwoofers.

Using computer aided design methods, Ford engineers were able to design a trunk mounted subwoofer enclosure that provides more bass but occupies significantly less trunk space. The unit is mounted in the right side of the trunk of the car, freeing the rest of the trunk for cargo.

I was torn between 2 and 4, but you guys threw out some great after thoughts.

I liked #1, but like someone had stated.....the speaker would be damaged easily.

I love the color of #2, but the chrome pony of #4.

Man I wanted the trunk enclosures, but I don't want that many watts in a coupe.

I want to be able to crank it up with a "full" sound. However, I don't want it to be blaring to where its an all or nothing sound. Meaning its either you can't hear it or you go deaf.

I guess I'm getting too picky.......I'll just wait until I hear both.

Waveman, I like those last grills you posted. Look great. I would vote for those.

As far as the Shaker 500, they are ported subs in the doors.

Not sure what you mean here. With the 1000 system it would be clearer at the same volume level as the 500 system since you are running more power. More amplifier power = cleaner sound. The 1000 will allow you to crank it louder and get more thump but you don't necessarily need to do that. I am going with the Shaker 1000 system based on the fact that the speakers will have different cross over points than the Shaker 500 which will produce a better sounding system at all volume levels.

It would be nice if they included a Subwoofer level controller either electronically in the deck or manually like a potentiometer near the emergency brake. Who knows, I may install one anyway.

Question... what's wrong with the stock subwoofer grilles? Not like you are really gonna see them with the doors shut anyway. Unless you are planning on fixing your car up and putting it in some sort of car show, just don't see the point in the aftermarket grilles.

Several reasons...first, I feel weird using grilles that say Shaker 500 on them, when I'm totally customizing the system. I'd like it to be a bit different.

Also, I am actually thinking about going to a couple of shows...this is not going to be a trailer queen (my daily driver), but I'd like something unique.

Lastly...this is the first car I've ever been able to truly claim as mine. And since the audio system is one of the things I've targeted as important to me, I want it to have my personal touch as well. If I could design something for my car...just too much fun.
