I replaced mine with Infinity Kappa 682.5c's. Love the speakers. But I can't tell ya what they would sound like with the skipper unit because I replaced the entire system.

I went with JL Audio speakers and a new deck. It's amazing how much better it sounds.

The factory speakers are cheap paper. Same junk OEMs have been using since the very first speaker was put in a car. I would go with the 6X8 Infinitys. They have great bass and crisp highs. My .02

at first i had orion p6.2 components but now im runnig boston acoustics sl80 5x7s in the front and boston acoustics 5x7 in the rear with an alpine cda-9855 head unit. i love this combination, but i also agree with going with infinity speakers. they sound great also.

I just added the Infinity 6X8's for the doors and rear. Made a big difference on the sound of my Shaker 500. Installer went out of his way to let me know the new speakers sounded "awesome".

I switched the rear speakers with JL Audio TR570-CXi's in my Shaker 500 system ant they sound alot better than the stock ones. The front speakers in mine are a 5x7/6x8 component type with the round mids and tweeter in an enclosed structure. I'm going to replace them later with something better than the TR's.

I put in the 5x7 Kappas when the discontinued them. Great speakers at an even better price :P ... I've been kind of biased towards Infinity though.

$0.02.

first thing i did was add a 4 channel amp to my factory highs and waited for them to crap out before putting in my component sets

but you would be amazed how the factory speakers sound with the right amount af added power to them, oh and i also had a different head unit with a stronger and more clear signal running everything too and that helps your sound alot
