Speaker sizes.

I feel almost less informed now. I'm sticking with the assumption that the standard stereo comes with 4 5x7/6x8 speakers, 2 in the doors, 2 in the rear deck.

I plan on taking a good look the day I get mine. It looks like 6x9's on the rear deck and 5x7's/6x8's on the doors (for the plain jane audio). I thought I also read that the non-shaker system cars did not have the same door panels as the shaker's (no sub pods at the bottom of the panel). I would appreciate some accurate information on this. So if anyone can chip in some more info (shaker and non-shaker) please do...

I don't care what is in there...I am ripping it out and putting 4" mids, 1" tweeters, and a 6.5" low in each door. And in the rear, a set of 5.25" components. Plus a 10" sub in the trunk.

See you’re not less informed, you hit it right on the head. Door has 2 5x7/6x8, rear deck has the same. I just replaced the stock paper cones in my 98' Ranger back in may of this year w/ some Pioneer 6x8's and they sound great, and bolt right in to the stock location with out a problem.
Just a side note I think the Shaker (aka Skipper) is a component speaker configuration with single voice coil speakers for Lows, Mids, and highs.
I bought my car from dealer stock, so I did not get to chose my options from the factory. I like it better that way, everyone w/ the shaker 1000 paid $1200, for it. You could get a compareable system installed for about $900 at any stereo shop, and you get to choose your brand.

The speakers are two 8inch subs in the doors, one 5x7 in each door and two 5x7's in the rear deck. If you have the shaker 1000 there is two 10 inch subs in the trunk. hope this helps.

I noticed on Crutchfield's site that it says some 6x8's will fit in the front doors, but many more 6x8's models can fit in the rear deck. I am assuming this is because of mounting depth?
And does anyone know a good pair of 8" subs th at will fit in the doors fine? I was looking at JL Audio 8w0's (I think that is what they are called). If you are using something else, can you please post model number?
Thanks!

Yeah. And the sound quality is definitely in line with what Ford paid for them. The crap they do with equilization to TRY to get the stock speakers to sound "OK" can really mess up some aftermarket speakers as well
Oh, and I have the JL Auido 8W3V2's in my car. They sound SO much better than stock it isn't funny!
