since i've seen a number of people talking about this topic and my response to a thread with these links was lost:

this is a review of the major sound deadening brands:
http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/
its not the most scientific thing ever, but its probably about as good as you're going to get.

I'll also say that I personally chose raam mat for my 98 and after giving it a good bit of thought, again for my 05. I ran the numbers a couple nights ago and it just wasnt worth it to me to do something in the price range of damplifier. plus, Rick at raam audio has always been great to work with. http://www.raamaudio.com

and on a very related note- i threw a layer of Ensolite in my trunk and it really helps with muffler drone. It did a much better job of toning it down than I thought it would (I run magnapacks).

And I'm still very happy with my dynamat Xtreme.

I'm interested in this topic. Something near my passenger side door panel seems to rattle like crazy when a certain frequency plays out of the speakers. I haven't been able to pinpoint the exact location of the problem but it's driving me nuts. Some music sounds crystal clear, some is almost unlistenable. At first I thought it was just mp3 limitations since I'm using a PIE adaptor and an ipod but now I think it's more likely vibration.

Will doing the doors with dynamat (or similar) really help this problem? Is it really worth the trouble? I'm thinking about doing the doors and the rear deck. How much would it cost, and how much would I need?

By the way, I'm running the stock Shaker 500 with 4 Infinity Reference speakers.

Thanks.

yeah, basically you're adding mass to the doors, which helps such rattles.

as for price...im not sure how many sqft you would need to do the doors and rear deck. Raam mat would be out if you want a small amount since it comes in 60sqft rolls.
Damplifier comes in amounts as little as 20sqft I believe.
You can also pick up small amounts of dynamat extreme (dont bother with non-extreme dynamat though, it doesnt work that well, is a pain in the hiney to install and doesnt stick to plastic very well).

check out the article I posted for more options.

yeah theres nothing really wrong with it. its just rediculously expensive. I put a good bit of it in my 98 before I figured out that there were cheaper alternatives.

Check the little cover that press-fits behind the handle- where you pull the door closed. Those things vibrate horribly. I stuffed a piece of sponge behind mine until I can do the whole deadener install.

Also the window switch plate. You can add some weight to it by adding the deadener product. That's where mine was rattling. Made a huge difference. I just used some leftover scraps. Been about 2 months with no problems.
