Question Skipper500 replacements

I'm looking to replace my shaker500 with a fairly modest upgrade. Ive been looking at pioneer and specifcally this morning Ive been looking at the Pioneer FH-P8000BT.

Can I use 3way or 4way speakers in the doors? Cructhfield says both front and back are 6x8.

Is a 4 way better then a 3 way speaker?

Are thier any amps with the Shaker 500 that I need to replace seperate from the head unit? I basically want to upgrade the entire system.

Also the last stereo install I did was probably 20+ years ago, Ive heard crutchfield gives good step by step install instructions how hard would it be for a novice to install?

Install is easy as hell. . 3 or 4 way, its all good, I went with pioneer 3-ways, the best bang for the buck ($50 last year for all four on ebay, 05/06 models). If you want to replace the WHOLE shebang, youll need at least one new amp and new door subs. Rockford Punch Stage 1, 2 or 3, Kicker SS, Pioneer shallow mount. . there are others im sure, but i stopped following the scene closely after my own install. Personally, i'd reccommend throwing in new speakers in the factory locations before making a decision on what kind of bass you want. Also, i have heard awesome things about the P8000BT, and my own experience with a pioneer HU can back that up. I used a DEH P5900IB for a bit, and the EQ helped make the door subs sound pretty good; either way I'd highly recommend dynamatting the door panels, it will make a tremendous difference. Crutchfield does give amazing instructions with their stuff, but its nothing you can't find on the net, probably even on this site. I bought all of my audio equipment on ebay and got sweet deals. However, to get back to the bass real quick, even after replacing the door subs, it wasnt enough for me, since any 8" subs will essentially be Mid-Bass. Thus, i ordered an Infinity Basslink (Powered sub). . . im hoping it fulfills my needs.

Where do I find the amps for the stock system? Or are they built in to the shaker head unit?

Pul out the driver's side kick panel; the amps are the little metal boxes just above the hood release. I left mine in cause theyre a PITA to get out, though they do make it somewhat difficult to run new speaker wire. . prepare to cut up at least one of your hands if you wire your new speakers to their own amp.
FYI- the amps are only for the door subs, not any of the speakers

If you like, you can check the brief writeup I did like 2 weeks ago when I installed the 8000. I only replaced the front and rear speakers and the head unit itself. The install is easy like everyone else was saying. The only trick is getting a power regulator for the remote amp turn-on so the subs won't pop every time you turn on the radio.
