I plan to swap out the entire stereo once I get my GT but the reason I ask if I should get the 500 is because of the 8" door subs. If I don't get the 500 I should still be able to mount some aftermarket 8" subs in the doors?? I realize I would need to make a mounting plate but there is a hole in the sheet metal of the door right? I would hate to pay for the 500 only to take it out.

Thanks

I did not order 500, plan to go completely aftermarket. My stereo guy said I would have way more options for a lot less........

I did the same thing. Ordered the standard radio and tore it all out. I added a Scosche sub in the trunk (same mounting as the Shaker 1000 sub). I have more bass than I'll ever need without adding any subs to the doors.

If you really want the door subs, you could probably order the door panels that have the enclosures for cheaper than the Shaker 500 cost.

I really want 8's in the doors but don't need the factory look. I just wanted to make sure if I get it with out the factory 8's I still can mount some 8's and just cut a hole in the door panel. I can get something simple to make like a mounting baffle and to clean it up. Seems like I don't need the 500

Thanks for the link! I am not geting the 500...I plan to rip it all out anyway and I know now that I can still mount some 8's in the door. I will have a sub in the trunk as well so the 8's will be more midbass.

Like I said in that link... I never even listen to CD's anymore. With an aftermarket systerm and an ipod... you're set. You alway get more from aftermarket when it comes to stereos.

I couldnt agree more! I am so excited the stock HU is double din so I can fit a nav unit in nicely!!! And some large midbass in the doors are cool to. I have a single 12 now in my currnet car but I might go to 2 10's of the same brand. I have to wait and see how big this trunk is when I get it.
