Shaker vs. standard system for upgrades
#1
I plan on replacing the head unit with a double din navigation unit so I really don't want to spend the money on the shaker 500. Since I will be replacing all the speakers the only drawback to not getting the 500 is I'll lose the two door subs. The door panels look the same with the exception of an 8" woofer cut out. Could I just cut my own hole and run the wiring down there to install my own subs. The music I listen to doesn't have a lot of bass so I wouldn't miss them much anyhow. Has anyone tried this?

I think that the shaker's door subs give great bass and they are clear which is more important in my opinion. Although you can't really crank them up with some hip hop songs. But if that's not your poison, you probably don't need too much bass. Stick with the Shaker.
