I ordered the Shaker 1000 and when I got my car, it had the Shaker 500 only.

I know the difference is the subs and amps in the trunk and the head unit, but are the other regular speakers (in the doors and on the rear deck) different in the Shaker 1000?

In other words, are they a different model of speakers so they can handle the 1000 watts vs. 500 watts?

As far as I know. the existing speakers are the same. Only differences are the ones you pointed out.

Make sure your dealer didn't charge you the price of a 1000 if you received a 500.

The dealer will either order the additional parts to make it a Shaker 1000 (head unit, trunk subs and amps) and install it for me or refund me the price of the Shaker 1000. That's why I'm asking about the difference in speakers so I don't get shorted.

After hearing the Shaker 500, it sounds pretty good to me although I've never heard the Shaker 1000. It has good bass but I do like the thumping bass that the Shaker 1000 should have.

I just might ask for the refund and buy a DVD player head unit.

The door/rear deck speakers are of higher quality as well...they are "audiophile" speakers....also as mentioned, the trunk subs.

Nope, the ONLY difference is in the 2x10" box with accompanying amps. That's it. Now, I just want to be able to purchase the enclosure without the$0.25 subwoofers. I don't have the ability to build with plastic myself, and that obviously fits really well.

I'm with Infinity on this one. The Shaker 500 and 1000 have the exact same hardware front to rear except for the rear sup and the 4 amps that drive them (one per voice coil for each of two subs).

And the little "Shaker 500" label will say "Shaker 1000" instead...

I think the head unit is different by one function...In the owner's manual, there is a "Shaker 1000 mode" that enhances acoustic sound for all seating locations and increases the signal to the trunk mounted speakers and amplifiers for enhanced bass performance.

It's just an equalizer setting that's programmed into the models with the 1000. It's the same headunit, it can be programmed/updated/changed by the dealer.
