Shaker 500 needs New Amps or New Door Subs????

I have a Shaker 500 in my 2006 GT with an Alpine IVA-W205 and I think it sounds cheap! I don't want to spend too much (maybe $500), but I'd like to upgrade my system. I'm keeping the deck, but would I get more bang for my buck if I replaced the factory Amps (that power the door subs) or the factory door subs????

I don't know if this is going to help but I replaced my shaker 500 with an aftermarket deck and also thought my door subs didn't sound "right". What I found out is that my aftermarket wire harness neglected to have the connection for the door sub amp...therefore I am not getting any sound action from them at all. I went to my dealer and he confirmed that my harness was missing the second connection for the door subs and got it for me. Will hook it up this weekend and hopefully solve the lack of bass problem from my front speakers. May not be your problem but I thought I would pass it on anyway.

Make sure and use the head unit cross over settings, if you send full range to that sub it'll muddy up the system and make it sound terrible! That being said I thought thee subs sounded amazingly good once all setup.

Thanks for the input guys. I do have everything hooked up right and the subs are crossed over. It does sound better than before, that's for sure. But I was hoping for MORE....MORE.....MORRRRRE!!!! Ha ha! The system in my truck has an alpine 10 inch with a Kenwood amp. This system sounds amazing compared to the one in the Mustang.

I replaced my door subs with the Shelby direct replacement 8inch woofers....big and I mean BIG difference in the sound...much deeper bass now I have a whole new set of rattles to track down in my door panels....lol, the switch was very easy and if you decide to later you can always add an amp because they definately can handle the power......not a bad upgrade for $139
