Satellite Radio
Satellite Radio
So as usual I missed the boat on this one, I want to get sirius, what do I do? And I see that for the Ipod I have to add something else? Is this a home mod, or take it to a car stereo installer?
I have the factory installed Sirius. While I don't know if installation could be DIY or not, you do have the option of getting a unit that allows you to take your Sirius-XM (now that they have been approved for merger) from vehicle to vehicle or to the home, office, etc. Mine is only available in the car. Same thing goes for NAV units too but you need to hide it to keep it from getting stolen. That can be a hassle but the mobility is worth it.
You could install the Ford Sirius Satellite Radio yourself, have it dealer installed or use a portable Sirius receiver as suggested. Ford has Trip Tunes Advanced which links your ipod with your factory radio. I found Trip Tunes to be spendy for a dealer installed accessory. There are several aftermarket alternatives and I would check them out first.
i added xm to my factory radio, stock non shaker unit, with an kit from an aftermarket supplier, but in doing so i lost the ipod feature..it runs off of the aux side of the unit,no external head unit..the only thing that shows is the xm ant.Robert
