Sometimes you have to wonder. I called my dealer to check on the cap I ordered, and they couldn't find the order, so now they are telling me I need to wait another 4 - 6 weeks on top of the 3 weeks I have already waited.

No thanks - I cancelled my order, got my money back and I'll just go online for this! Sometimes things don't run as smooth in the Great White North.

Cheers

They were taking so long, that I cancelled and got my money back. I instead got a Saleen emblem from ebay - it comes with 2 sided tape that has a cut out in the middle shaped to fit around the horse outline. The Saleen emblem itself is flat, so maybe I can get a decal to go over that and then mount it on the wheel without tinkering with the airbag.

Arrived today! I bought the Saleen steering wheel emblem update kit (10 9100 B15616).

It comes with the emblem, 2 sided tape that has a cutout to go around the horse emble on the wheel and adheshion promoter.

The Saleen emblem is flat, so a decal can cover it no problem. I think this is a good solution for those who don't want to remove the old emblem.

Cheers

Anyone know what happened to toxigrafix? I wanted to contact them about doing a decal overlay to cover the Saleen one I bought, but the link to their site doesn't work.

It is smooth - you can put a decal over it, as I am planning to do.

It wasn't easy. But first, be careful prying the new cap off the center wheel section. It's stuck on with double-sided 3M tape. I used a single edged razor blade to loosen the tape around the perimeter. I was then able to twist the cap off the wheel center without damaging the black background.

I made the "lip" by very carefully using a Dremel with a cutting wheel on a low speed setting. I took my time and used a fine metal file once I finished making a lip all the way around. After the file, I went over it a couple more times with 400-grit sandpaper, then 600-grit. It was time consuming. I then sprayed the lip with semi-flat paint -- several coats for complete coverage. If you don't get complete coverage, it will show through.

On the airbag, I took a single edged blade and cut away the soft rubber "ribs" to make as smooth a surface as possible. I also had to cut away the rubber around the perimeter because of the size of the "new" center cap. Take your time and turn the steering wheel as you go to get the best angle.

Alright, I ordered one today (4 - 6 weeks ). I'm giving it a try!

Why so long? Where did you order from? I got mine from Summit. They have them in stock:

Willie, am I reading this right? You bought a wheel center cap and modified it to fit the steering wheel center cap?

The ultimate lazy man's request.... can I pay you to make one for me?

I paid $19 for mine - $35 is a bit much. $14 is better.

Anyone seen a blown airbag?

Willie

so what has everyone put in this spot? I want to see pics! I realize you put the saleen simply for a flat surface so I was wondering what you placed over it.
