Replacing shaker subs?
I looked around and didn't see a thread on this, but has anyone tried to swap out the stock 10's in the shaker 1000 box for aftermarket ones? It seems big and deep enough, but im curious if anyones sucessful done it.

I have never seen any successful swaps. There is the problem with the size and shape of the Shaker Sub box, it's small and can make aftermarket speakers sound worse than stock. There's also the stock amps, they may not be powerful enough to power the new speakers. I also read they are wired in a strange way, but I'm no expert. Unless anybody else has advice, leave them alone or replace everything. You can always replace the Head Unit or door speakers for better sound.

Replacing the HU makes a huge difference. I installed the Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD and love it. Shelby/Kicker was making a direct replacement system but havent heard much about it lately. Crutchfield might have something also.

Ok thanks for the info. Yea I have had afew other people say the same thing about the airspace/ fit porblem, so I am going to replace it. I have already replaced the HU, stock speakers, and am in the process of putting in some very powerful aftermarket, mtx amps.
