Replacing map/reading lights

Im sure this is discussed somewhere, but I cannot find it. To replace the map lights on the, do I simply pry off the plastic casing?

The whole housing is easy to remove, simply grasp it by the sides and pull, it should pop loose without much trouble. Then, give the socket a quarter-turn and it comes loose. Change out the bulb, put the socket back in and lock down with a quarter-turn. The whole thing then goes right back in place by lining up the tabs and pushing in place.

The lenses might pop off, but you run the risk of scratching something. It doesn't take long to pop the whole thing down and get to the bulbs from the back.

Once the housing is off you can disconnect the wire holding it to the roof of the car. This allows you to set it in your lap to work and makes it alot easier. The plastic shells in front of the light bulbs have tabs on the sides of them and if you use a small screwdriver you can just pop one tab and it will fall off. If you are installing LED bulbs you may have to insert the new LED bulbs in from the front of the light fixture since they are bigger than the stock bulbs.

has there been any LEDs that are really that much brighter than stock, and aren't always dimly lit when off?

I ordered a set from Moss Motors and love them. Will need to check to see that they are fully off, but I seem to think that they where.

Car is getting LTs and gears installed, so I cannot check now. Should be able to this weekend.
