Radio Controlled Ipod Interface
In the pictures, the iPod "pocket" fits a glove box with straight sides. I'm pretty sure the Mustang glovebox has rounded sides. Are these pictures actually from a Mustang? How well does the pocket fit with rounded sides? TIA

Quick question from a new forum member...
I talked with you (Kevin) on the phone briefly, and you indicated that this iPod adapter works with the factory Sirius by taking over the 'SAT1' aux mode and leaving 'SAT2' and 'SAT3' aux modes for the sirius...
I just was looking at the mustang install directions posted on the brandmotion website, and it contains the following text:
"Remember, you’ll need to be able to disconnect your iPod to listen to the Satellite Radio."
This leads me to believe that if I want to switch from the iPod to Sirius, I'll have to pull over and fumble with my ipod to unplug the dock connector..
Can someone please verify what mechanism is used to switch from iPod to Sirius (and back again?)
If its based on SAT1 is iPod and SAT2/3 are Sirius, I might even get away with just shoving my spare ipod into the trunk of the car and save myself the hassle of pulling the cable...
One more question... On a previous car I had an iPod adapter that had a flaw: Any time I'd turn off the car while the adapter was playing a playlist on the ipod, the adapter would pause the iPod and let it sleep. However, when I got back to the car (and started it), it would reset as if I hadn't been playing a list at all. It would have made more sense if the ipod/adapter would just continue playing the song/playlist that was previously playing... How does the brandmotion adapter deal with this?
Thanks in advance...
Gary
Update: Called BrandMotion's 877 number this morning to ask about this.. They told me that their adapter takes over all three SAT modes on the radio, but only displays text on SAT1. The only way to switch from listening to the iPod to listening to Sirius would be to disconnect the iPod from the adapter.

That's Your Call. I can cancel. Fyi I keep my Ipod Loose in the Glove Box and Can Unplug Pretty Easily. Nothing that Can't be Handled at a Stoplight or By Passenger while Driving also. Send me an Email if you Decide Not to get one. It is Still the Best Ipod Interface going! I use mine in the 500 whenever I Drive. with my Monster Ipod I could Drive Coast to Coast without hearing the same song twice if I loaded er up! As with All My Items I want you To Know all the In's and Out's of the Items and Know exactly what you are getting! I am glad this concern comes out in the Forum rather than after the Item is Purchased.

My question is, How's the sound quality? I have the monster cable that just plugs into the ipod and lighter outlet. But the sound quality is muffled and not as clear as just listening through the ipod itself.
installed!
My Shaker 500 not compatible, right? replace?
The part number from my 05 vert is 4R3T-18C815-HJ. The Compatibility Guide (from BrandMotion website) showed a part number very similar to mine that is not compatible, but the final set of letters is HE, not HJ. Does this matter? I suspect my radio will still not work. The last letter may be different. It is the first letter of the last grouping that is significant.
Is there any difference between the radio in a coupe and a vert? I ask because the part number is different and they are listed separately in the Compatibility Guide. Yes, the tone curves are different (that is the difference as explained to me)--I am guessing it is because the acoustics of a coupe are different than those of a convertible. Is the difference significant or noticeable, I don't know. Will it make Barry White sound like Alvin the Chipmunk? I doubt it.
Next, should I replace the head unit with a third party unit or a Shaker 500 from another year? Would any year, 2006 through 2008 fit in the dash of my 2005 vert? If all radios are the same, the 2008 looks good with the chrome trim at the edge of the control *****. The Shaker 500 head units for 2005 through 2008 should be interchangeable. Of course, what ever car a 2005 radio is installed into, the factory satelite receiver will not function.

To Brandmotion:
Ipod is great and all, but will you be making a system for other MP3 players and USB Thumb Drives? Ford has Sync with that system but we don't get Sync on the Mustang. I desprately want something for the 05-08 Mustang, with nav. That will allow a USB drive to be plugged in, display on the stock radio, and used normally without buying an IPod. Any plans for this? If you made such a device i'm sure it would sell. And you would be the only company to provide it.

Has anyone heard of an XM radio (add-on) causing problems with the guages? My fuel and temp guages are working erratically and the dealer says that mustangs guages all run through the stereo and that XM (ipod) causes failures.
