just wanted to know how these sounded, did you try them before you installed the new HU or did you just test everything at once, i am looking for something with good bass and nice sound and it is either going to be these, the 4 ways, JBL's, Excelons, or some DB speeds

They sound real good...better then the factory speakers imo. I had them in with the Shaker 1000 also, and they sounded better then too. I don't know if I'd call these bass speakers....I think that's the job of the subwoofers....These speakers handle the highs and mids real nice and sound clean....the subs pound out the bass from below...
