Thumbs up

So I bought a Shaker 1000 off of E-Bay and some pioneer speakers to replace the stock ones, also an MTX amp and two twelve inch kenwood subs.
Should I pay a profesional shop to do the install or try to install myself?

Hmmm...how experienced are you? You could do the head unit yourself, but I'm not sure about the other stuff. That might save you 50 bucks in the long run though, since you should be able to use the same harness (maybe).

if you have to ask then spend the money and have someone do it that knows what there doing and get a warrenty on the install

i wasnt meaning that to be rude i was just saying if you r asking then you are having doubts about your skills on putting all the stuff in ya know

Ive done a grand number of stereo installs, and this is by far the easiest car Ive done so far. There are a number of good DUYs here I beileve, and all the info you would need to do it yourself. I dont see that it would be a problem at all with a basic understanding of how to wire a car. Bottom line though, if you dont feel comfortable doing it yourself - get someone else to do it for you.

Update! Update!
Well thanks to this forum and all the postings of forum members with pdf.files I took the big leap and installed the system myself!
I must say it was easier than I thought it would be! The hardest part was not scratching up the rear window, boy they put those speakers and screws way back there!
The radio swap out was no big deal either, it is an actulally pretty user friendly car so far!
My son who is 13 helped me out he did the passenger door speaker.
We had alot of fun.
Woohooo!

You did the wiring through the firewall to the trunk for the amp and sub too!? Way to go!

Yeah, I think those rear deck speakers were put in before the back window... hence the tight fit. I can't wait for mine to get here!

Good job Kevin! Glad to hear you got it in. How does it sound and when will you take it in for the rest of the install?

It sounds good, I am going to change out the front two 5.25inch 2way speakers I got with 6x8 4way pioneers though. I dont like the way the 5.25in fit. plus they are rated for 130watts so I fear blowing them.
As for the install of my amp and sub that is going to be in either May or June, we are currently buying and selling houses so money is all tied up the good news is the house we are purchasing has an oversized 2.5 car garage!

I did the self test on the shaker and boy did I luck out because it is a series B.

so I received the 6x8 pioneer 3 way speakers and installed them earlier tonight.
Wow! What a difference. They fit perfect and the sound is great. Very loud and does not get distorted.
I can only imagine whats going to happen with the subs and amp.

anyone want to buy a pair of 5.25 inch pioneer two way speakers? really cheap
