Painting chrome rings?
Can anyone advise on how to paint the rings? I want to paint them to look like the GT500 - satinish gun metal.
Do they need to be sanded down? Is it difficult to remove the rings?
TIA...my search didn't yield that much, but if you happen to know of a good thread please advise! Thanks...

I painted mine, and I first took some heavy grit sandpaper and sanded off the chrome finish, and then took fine paper and smoothed it up. I then used some adhesion promoter before spraying it with the Import silver spray paint from DupliColor. I put on probably about 3-4 coats on the rings, and then about 3 coats of clear. I found that the adhesion promoter is important, as the paint did not want to stick. I bumped one of the rings after finishing the third coat, and the paint started to peel off. I just sanded it back down, and fix it the right way.
