since i have owned a truck for the last 8 years or so i am used to having an overhead console. so my quesion is, has anyone thought about adding one to our car? just something small to store sunglasses or garage door openers and stuff like that. maybe someone could photoshop what it would look like to give us an idea.

just an idea i have been kicking around lately

If you are short, maybe give it a try. I'm 6'4", and I don't think I want that in my line-of-sight, The overhead in my parents' new Exploder bugs me, as do the map lights in the wife's Jetta. So, you may like it, but it'll be a PITA to mold from fiberglass.

I have thought about it and would probably use an overhead out of another Ford Model. I just have not had the time to follow through on it. Take a drive down to your local Dealer and Start Looking at headliners!
Check the Curvature at the Front carefully thats where the fit is critical.
One with some Map Lamps in the Center or rear would be a bonus!

i was thinking about the one in the lower model f-150's since they are only arounf 15 inches long not like the ones that go all the way back, and i believe they have map lights too

and i am 6 foot tall and i have the seat all the way down and i seem to have plenty of head room

I missed having the Explorer overhead console I had installed in my Ranger, so I put an auto-dimming mirror with compass in. Only thing I'm missing now is the temperature display, but I could upgrade to a new mirror with that in it. I had the auto-dim compass mirror sitting here from a previous car, so I decided to install it.

I have an idea... trade your Mustang in for a truck or SUV and put your 20" wheels on that instead. Then you'd have your headliner and the Mustang would have it's wheels back. Just a thought.

Next time you want an overhead console or 20" wheels, buy an SUV. Because neither belong in, or on, a Mustang.

...was a joke. That's why I followed it with a . That would imply that I was joking, get it? If I had known you were going to take it personal and be a big baby... well, I still would have done it. Grow up. And calling another member names is against the forum rules. I'll make sure a Mod has a talk with ya. :nono:

Starr, no mistake was made. I made a joke... he took it personal. It happens on here from time to time. He's been reported to the Mods for calling me a bad name, and they will put soap in his little mouth. Nothing more you, or I, can do.

Ian,
Thanks, I ment he misunderstood, not knowing it was a joke. Some times I wonder if people take me too serious? Am I too serious? Not ment to be. I know you have been on here a long while and I repect that. I am sure you know way more then I do about cars. So if I say something dumb, which I find I do quite often. I am sorry. Hope we can still chat.
Thanks again

Starr, trust me... he didn't misunderstand. He knows I was joking. He chose to act the way he did. I have been around here a while, yes, and I have only come across a few people here who are trouble makers... vc4life being one of them. I have witnessed countless threads being closed because of his comments. But I apologize to you if I came off harsh... somebody may have put me in a bad mood this morning.

ok fist of all it didnt come across as a joke, and 2nd of all you calling me a baby is just as much name calling as what i said, and then you want to go tattle on someone , and your calling me a baby?

look we are all adults here but this forum is set up for children i mean you cant curse and you cant disagree with anyone or debate over an issue with out someone closing the thread or getting all bent out of shape over it.

oh well who cares im not like you i dont live on this forum.

It sure took you long enough to respond. Where were you, in the shop trying to get your 22" wheels to stop rubbing when you make a u-turn? Oh, by the way... when someone follows something with the face, it means it's a joke. Maybe I was trying to give you a hard time, but it's all in fun.

As far as me calling you a baby, and you calling me a jacka@#... think about it. There's a difference there. :nono:

And lastly... I don't "live" here, as you stated. I have been a member of this forum for over a year, so I have a lot more posts than you. I have 5 posts per day. You have almost 2 and a half. So, I have twice as many posts per day as you. <_< 5 posts a day is hardly living here.

Maybe it's time to get this thread back on topic...

Personally, I'm not sure about having an overhead console in the Mustang. It would be a huge benefit since the stang is sorley lacking in storage space with all the "stuff" we [collective] carry with us these days. I would love to see someone take this concept to the next level...

With all due respect - you have no right to tell anyone else what they can do with their vehicle. Some people may not like 20" wheels or overhead consoles, but then again some people don't like ducktails or racing stripes or unnecessary hood pins.

That really isn't the point is it? I say if you like something go for it and don't worry about what others may think, but at the same time don't bash them for their choices. If we all wanted the exact same things, Ford would only have to produce one model of Mustang and paint it one color....now that would be boring wouldn't it?
