Need some advice in removing door sill and kick panel

I've got some trim inserts from Scott Drake in my door sill covers, so they might get bent out of shape, but worse comes to worse, I could replace them.

So, give it the heat gun to soften the adhesive and then pry up the sill cover. I can do that. But, how do you get the kick panel out? Has it also got adhesive, or will it come loose if you just pull it backward and clear the Brake Release handle?

Thanks

There is a simply pull and tug, no rush. You don't want any chance of stress marks here.

Will do. So, there's nothing else the holds the kick panel in?

Why do you need to remove the kick panels to take out the door sill covers? The door sill covers are on top of the plastic from the kick panels, so you just have to pry off the kick panels and you're good to go.

However, if you need to take out the kick panels for some other reason, then they are clipped on just like the sill plates, plus there is a push-pin on the drivers side, you can see the head of it behind the hood release. I don't recall how the passenger side is right now, and I can't look because my interior is ripped out at the moment for a color change. I do remember both kick panels were easy to take off, and I hate working on cars to.

Thanks Michael. Maybe my post wasn't written too clearly. I should be getting a CDC Shelby dead pedal in a day or two, and I will have to remove the kick panels to get at the mounting bolt. So, I will have to remove the sill plates first. I'm just not too thrilled with removing the sill plates because I have those nice inserts from Scott Drake. They may get bent or pop out. But, maybe I'll get lucky.

I forgot to mention, there is also a stripe of 3m double sided tape on each sill plate. The 3m tape doesn't really hold it down, I think its mainly to keep it from pulling up should something snag the sill. Anyway, you might want to grab some double sided tape from the autoparts store (if you don't have any already) before you start your mod, then you'll already have it.

Also, if you're a clean freak, expect to have to clean up the two-sided tape residue that is left on the sill when you yank up the sill plate.
