Window tint: Moleskin installation
I obtained a Moleskin kit from Automoleskin.com. Kit comes complete with enough Moleskin to do both sides and a set of install direction.

There is a forum members discount for the moleskin felt kit here.

The $5 generic cheap moleskin IS NOT THE SAME as Tint Protectors moleskin felt.
The glue the crap $5 moleskin uses is not made with an acrylic resin. The moleskin they use is made to line window shims. The glue is not meant to endure heat and water.
Tint Protector uses a MUCH MUCH better weather proof adheasive. PERIOD. We have tried them both. The Tint Protector moleskin has been going strong for 3 years now where the $5 non automotive grade moleskin lasted less than 3 weeks! You get what you pay for!
Tint Protector also offers a mustangsource.com discount.

After recently moving to Texas I realized that I need tint badly. I never would have thought about the tint getting scratched until I stumbled on this thread when looking at tint pics. Thanks in advance for saving my $230 tint job. $25 seems worth it, especially because I see streaking on my windows now, before the tint.
Gotta love these forums!

Reviving a very useful, abeit old, thread.
Finally (after about two years!) installed the 08 weatherstripping on my 06, as I'm finally going to get the car tinted. Thanks to TacoBill's fine howto, this project took about twenty minutes. One little suggestion for the reinstall-- a dilute solution of Dawn and water and a Q-tip or two. I applied a little bit of this mixture on the Q-tip and ran it down the channel. The things slid in with virtually no resistance. I didn't require any type of tool end to get the wipers in place.
This also worked for me when I installed my pedal covers way back when!

After 8 years, my moleskin is just like I took it out of the box! Literally, still all rolled up, lol. Going to do it finally......
Getting tint redone this week, no time better than now! lol.
Thanks T.B. for your writes up(s)

Moleskin was necessary back in the day to protect the window tint. But today, I would recommend going with the 08(?) and up window wiper which comes preinstalled with felt from Ford.
If still going with the moleskin, just keep an eye on it from it separating from the wiper, the glue can get messy.

My car is still on it's first moleskin strips and it's been 7 years. I think the secret is I used the good moleskin and not the cheap generic crap meant for homes that tint shops use.
The tint protector felt is more cost effective over buying new wipers and if you make sure the felt is not hanging off the sides of the weather strip you should be fine.
