Does anyone know if it's possible to upgrade the door panels--to add the leather inserts that are in the IUP and achieve the same leather-lined look?

I have the Interior Sports Package in Medium Parchment, which actually looks very nice, but was thinking of adding the chrome dash and the leather inserts on the doors.

I was thinking of replacing mine at some point when I redo my interior with my own blue ICAP. Not sure when that will happen, but if you are still looking for them when I do that, I would be happy to sell them to you.

I believe I know what you are referring to. It was in MotorTrend. I believe it was a preproduction model. I'm bummed that this didn't happen since I liked what I saw in this pic. Scroll down, the pic is near the bottom.

Thanks; that's a good option. My e-mail is JRVidueira@aol.com.

I'd really prefer to do it in the coming month or two, though. Does anyone know whether the after-market upgrade kit includes the leather inserts?

Also, is this interior upgrade (chrome dash etc. and leather inserts on doors) something I can do myself, or do you guys think I should have this professionally done?

JRV - I haven't seen an aftermarket kit yet that includes the Dark Charcoal Aberdeen pattern door inserts.....these are part of the factory IUP package and you may be able to get them from Ford parts?

I have the IUP and was wanting to get some of this "Pleather" material and add it to the rear interior quarter panel insert areas.....if you do find this material - please post as I'd like to order some as well. Going to check out the local upholstery shops and see what they offer and will post if I find anything.

I too thought that it should be easy to add fabric/leather to the door panels. There is a deep groove around the area to be covered, both up front and in back. I would think that an automotive upholstery shop could just cut a piece and glue it down, using the groove as a place to secure the edges. You could even use "piping" like they edge some seats with to contrast with the color or just fill that groove right up. Matching the matericals would be important, though. The same shop could possibly replace certain panels in the seats with a matching material. I thought it would be cool to just replace the upper horizontal rib in the seatback centers with a contrasting color, just like they did on the '69-'70 Mach 1 interiors. One place I talked to said that they wouldn't disassemble my factory upholstery, but would insist on creating entirely new seats. They did, however, recommend another shop that specialized in custom modifications. Also check out the thread somewhere on this site about the custom embroidery you can get for your headrests. Very cool, and reasonable!

That will be close to what mine will look like, the seats will be black with blue in the center sections though rather than the whole seat.
