Well, after I'd done this, the next step was to swap out the silver door handles.
And while I was at it, finally install the 2008 moleskin inner 'wipers' (or whatever they're called) I've had for a bit.
And...well, the passenger side inner insert had fallen down this week, like so many of the 05-09s have (EVEN AFTER that had been 'fixed' by someon at the dealership... sigh...) so that hadda be glued in.
I'd read the 'scrub the foam, tape the edges, roll the contact cement, be careful, put it back on' thread that's around these parts somewhere, so I figured, since I did the dash panels, this would be fairly ok to do myself.
So I attacked it all. Got it all done. That inner panel is NOT one of Ford's better ideas, but I handled it, and it looks just like it should, actually. Kinda proud for my first one. I really hate the outer seam, but it looks as good as factory. Just difficult to deal with.
So now, all I got that's silver/white in the car is the text, the shifter **** top, and the sill plates. Those will quickly enough be dealt with, except the text. Kinda hard to get rid of that.
And a new boot, you'll see I need one. The old one cracked to stupid, had holes in it... really cheap on Ford's part, but Jim's gonna make me one to match the shift boot, all good.
A retint is in the works, of course, due to the non-moleskin 'wipers'. When that's done, my cave will finally be complete!
Pics below... do you think I park a little close to the carport? Or can I do better?
