why no telescoping steering wheel?
OK, the nicest part of my day is that I'm able to talk the girl at Budget into the vert!!!!!! Beautiful day in Eastern VA!!!!
My second time driving the 05 (first in a vert). My biggest problem is that being 6'4" I have to put the seat all the way back. But this puts me in an bad driving position for my arms/hands on the steering wheel. Would it be that big of a deal for Ford to add a telescoping steering wheel? My $15K Nissan has it??? Could I add one to the 05/06 Mustang aftermarket???
This might be a deal breaker for a future purchase. Any other vert ideas for a tall guy????

Me too...
I am 6'-4" as well and the main reason that I bough the stang was because it was one of the few performance cars that I could actually fit in and see "Under" the top of the windshield. I am sure you know what I am talking about. Even the 05 vette seemed like more of a tight fit....
I found the GT 6 way seating position to be more comfortable than the standard V6 because you can tilt the front of seat up farther and the back down lower than you can in the standard V6 seating. The more relined position is more comfortable for me...
However, I admit that a telescoping wheel would be heaven sent....
The one feature I really liked in the porsche Boxter ( my second choice )

Is this something you can add??
After driving the car all day today and Sunday, I still want one (GT of coarse). But I must admit a telescoping steering wheel would make it perfect. I even moved the seat up a bit to move my arms/hands closer to the wheel. Then my knees were pretty close to the lower part of the wheel.
Another option to add, sun tan lotion

On a positive note, compared to the old car, the new interior is HUGE!! Man, I had to squeeze into the old SN95's and was always looking at the headliner. For that, I'd give up my telescoping steering wheel
Of course, both would have been even better.
I too miss the telescopic wheel like my Lincoln LS had!! I'm right at 5'11" and my issue is that when the seat is adjusted just right for perfect pedal access (5 speed mtx) the steering wheel is too far forward - so I either have drive kind of "leaning forward" or move the seat closer which brings my knees to the steering column......telescopic steering wheel would have made my driving position much better.
I test drove a 2008 GT Friday evening 4/22/11 and am also disappointed that there is no telescoping steering wheel. I am 6'1" with a history of 2 neck surgeries and ergonimic positioning is a BIG deal to me! I will not buy a car that is not comfortable and the 08 Mustang just did not make the cut because of the non-telescoping steering wheel. Ford needs to "level up" on this one because everybody is adding this option today!
