Is this a pre-production picture? I don't have that shiney chrome frame around outer edge of the shifter, mines black. Is all yours black also?

I think this has been discussed already somewhere, I remember reading that it was a pre-production piece and was replaced with a black piece to save money.

Yeah...I noticed that chrome outer trim in earlier pics myself. I might grab this item later on, but black's okay for now.

 

Me thinks getting rid of the chrome is actually an improvement

 

Afraid it went the way as the engine cover,

 

Ford needs to offer this item, the engine cover, and any other miscellaneous trim pieces that got cut in an All-The-Other-Little-Items-We-Wanted-Upgrade-Package!

 

AMEN to the engine cover!!

 

It threw glare all over the windshield so they scrapped it. My older cars had chrome on the console, it will blind you with the right light too.

 

It was scrapped because of $. The shape of the ring was rounded to so it would not cause glare. ( Compare the tiny white reflection on chrome ball bearing to the blinding reflection of a flat chrome race trailer. )

 

So, has anyone seen the engine covers for sale yet?

 

This piece dose not glare. That's bogus. The 2005 300C has this same trim ring around there console, no glare issues it was purely $$$'s.
