It seems that most Stangers feel that the darker the tint the better. In my opionion, I want it to be dark enough for some privacy, but light enough to show off my interior as well. I"m in Calif. so we can't legally exceed 70% on the front side windows. I was thinking about 15 or 20% on the rear and rear quarter windows and 50% on the front sides and hope the cops won't pull me over.

What are your opinions?

get whatever % u want on the front sides - 69% or 5% are both darker than 70%, so you're running the chance anyway. besides, if u get pulled over, just roll the windows down - I've been stopped with an illegal tint a few times, cops rarely notice that stuff.
P.S. IMHO i think 20% is the nicest for front sides - its still amazing visibility (even at night!) and its pretty hard to see in, even in daylight. 50% isn't even worth tinting - you'd never notice it

I am also on SoCal, and as soon as my baby arrives, I will be putting 15% on the back and 1/4, and either 35 or 50% on the sides.... I think I will put 50% to be on the safe side, because I will be having illegal mufflers too, and it is TORCH RED, so I think I want to draw a little less attention.

I have 20% all around and I love it. Not legal, but it looks great.

I got 35% all around (except windshield) - plenty dark for me.

FYI- if you get 5% on the rear, it will most likely make the front windows look darker anyway (likely making 50 look like 35).

When it comes down to it, if you're gonna get pulled over, you're gonna get pulled over. So get what you like.

Before I got my tint I wasn't aware that the CA law actually stated a specific percentage. i knew it was frowned upon because of police saftey so I just went with a percentage that would allow the cops to see into the car if they needed to. I have a white car so 20% doesn't seem too dark to me..

That's why I'm retiring to San Antonio after the Navy. I'm never going back to California.

afcop13, good to see you are having fun with you car after the crap with the dealer. Do you have pictures posted anywhere? After your time overseas you deserve the nice car in the sun. Love the color.

All my cars have 15/20 on the rears and 30/35 on sides. I've been pulled over but never ticketed for tint. Roll down the windows before the man reaches you.
