I've done it. Had the dealer do it, since I didn't want to mess with the side airbags. Cost $675 installed.
My seats have a hi and low setting. I'm glad that I got those, I have used both settings.
Also I would suggest talking to your installer about location of the button. I asked for mine to be placed on the top of the plastic that is next to the seat. (on the drivers side this is just in front of the lumbar adjustment). He said that if I hadn't said anything, he would have put them somewhere else.

Looks like this company is the supplier for the heated/cooled combo seats. I don't see anything on there about aftermarket parts/installations though.

alright i have an idea yet i dont know how possible it is to be able to do it. in the 04-current model ford f150, the climate control area (looks like a small strip with various buttons that controls AC etc) is the same as in the 2005 Mustang. In the Lariat F150, they have the control for heated seats. Is it possible to be able to use those buttons in the 2005 Ford mustang and have them control the on/off of heated seats? Anyone done this?

Ya know, it's tough to read a thread on heated seats when the heat index today was 121* with 85+% humidity. Miserable...thankfully, temps are supposed to be in the low 80's at the end of the week when my pony is supposed to be here

I was at my mom's this weekend in Virginia Beach. It was so hot, when I got in my other car, the cloth seats were hot.

Agreed on having the cooled ones! I plan on getting an auto start for the car so heating will be easier than having the air conditioner freeze my face or my wife complain about being too cold while I roast with the sun on me.
At least that is how I usually feel when the wife is in the car.

I sent them an email about that very seat. I got a responce from another company that actualy makes them. They do not know if it fits the 05 or not, they never tried. They said you have to permenetly modify your seat to fit the fans. They fill a blater and the air comes out of the perferated holes in the seat. So if anyone has there car and wants to try to get them to test fit this unit I can give you the email address. I dont have my car yet but I offered to help them. Never got a responce tho...maybe because my car is not ordered just yet.

Interesting....I got an email from this today....seems they responded and never heard back from me. It could have been deleted thinking it was spam so I told them to resend. I will let you know what they tell me.
This was the first one I got:
Dear Mark,
Fred from Katzkin has forwarded your email to us here at www.leatherseats.com. Katzkin does manufacturer their seat covers to be compatible with the Seat cooling system on the market, but they don’t actually sell the systems themselves. The seat cooling systems are available from us for $169.00 per seat. However, you do have to purchase a leather kit that is specifically manufactured to be compatible with these systems. Basically the system includes a couple of high speed fans, an airbag/ballast, and a remote control. This system of components must be installed in the seat cushion foam which has to be altered to accommodate it. Once installed the fans fill the ballast with air from under the seat and blow it through the perforationson the new seat covers and onto your butt thus cooling you down. There are some cars out there that have seats that will just not work with these systems. We have not tried to install one on the new body mustang seats as of yet, but I can find out tomorrow whether they will have a chance of working or not from one of our installers.
Just out of curiosity are you planning on ordering your Mustang GT with cloth seats and doing a conversion from there? If so, what color or colors would you be looking to use for the new seat covers?
Thanks,
Eric
