Hardwiring a Sirius radio

Ok i am going to be hardwiring my radar detector and i would like to hardwire my sirius radio untill i can order a factory kit, i want to know hot do i cut the wire for the cigarette lighter and which wire is the ground and which is the constant, or is there another way, i do not want to pay the $40 for the kit from crutchfield cause i am doing this tomorrow and it would take to long to get here

I used to have my SIRIUS unit hard wired. You see more on my install here (including how to connect the wires) http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showth...561#post608561

The hot wire is the one that goes to the center of the power point and the ground is the wire that goes to the outside of the power point.

I ended up chucking all of if though since I just got the OEM SIRIUS unit from KC. I love being able to change station while resting my arm on the shifter.. so much easier.

If you do a search, I remember someone posted a very helpful way to tap into the accessory power so you unit will go off with the radio rather than having constant power all the time. Basically you plug directly into the fuse box down by the right passenger kick panel.
